| FAYETVILLE. Marshall’s Marcus Glass was recently hired through a partnership between the University of Arkansas Health Sciences (UAMS) and the Arkansas Health Care Foundation (AFMC) to help people in Searcy County navigate the healthcare system.
As a local health worker, Glass can answer basic health questions as well as provide education and resources to the community. Community health workers work in their communities to help the public get the care they need and answer basic health-related questions, such as when someone should see a doctor. They can also provide valuable information about vaccines.
“We are thrilled to be working with Marcus to provide the residents of Searcy County with a new resource as we enter the next and hopefully final phase of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Stephanie Krueger, Associate Director of Community Programs in Siri County. Office of Public Health and Research UAMS. “We are also excited to work with AFMC and the Searcy County community as we work to improve the health of all people in Arkansas.”
Glass has extensive experience in community and customer service.
“Being a community health worker means being able to help people in my community,” Glass said. “I want to work with them to find a better way of life, help them find solutions to everyday problems, and help them overcome the many obstacles they may face along the way.”
