Riverview Health

If you don’t already have a primary care provider, summer is a great time to build a relationship with a professional to guide you on your path to health care.

RiverView Health employs a variety of primary care providers who specialize in family medicine and internal medicine. Your Primary Health Care Provider (PCP) should be the first person in the health care system you contact when you are sick or have questions about your health. This provider also ensures that treatment and testing are not duplicated and nothing is missed. Your provider can also help you find other resources such as support groups and courses.

One of the primary responsibilities of a PCP is to provide preventive care. Your PCP can help you identify problems before they occur. Your doctor will get to know you, your history, and your family’s history. They will make sure that you get the necessary examinations, as well as identify and treat any minor problems before they become serious.

It is important that you build an honest relationship with your PCP. While it can be intimidating and embarrassing to talk openly about your health problems, it’s important to talk about even the most personal health issues. Remember that your doctor will not be embarrassed, shocked, or offended by even your most distressing symptoms.

Play an active role in your health. Be sure to voice any questions or concerns about your health, no matter how minor they may seem. Take your ISP’s warnings seriously and feel free to seek additional information resources.

The easiest way to prolong life and make health care costs affordable for everyone is to take preventive measures wherever possible.
