We believe that the closest store to our customers is in their pocket, and we are focused on making this ongoing experience as simple, attractive and personalized as possible. Today we announced two brand new augmented reality (AR) features on the Walmart app to make shopping easier.

The first feature we’re excited to share will be rolling out to all customers in early July on our iOS app and will allow customers to view the furniture and home decor in their spaces with a few simple swipes on their phones.

The experience will initially be available on 300 pieces of furniture and home d├ęcor, with plans to expand it to popular college entry items in the coming months. To access this feature, all a shopper needs to do is click the “View in Your Space” banner on AR-enabled items while shopping on the Walmart app, and this will help them connect to their camera and see the item in their own space. space. They will also be able to switch item sizes to see if the item will fit in their space and take a picture for later, which will help them feel confident buying from us. View in Your Space will be available on iOS, with plans for Android and mobile web.

After extensive testing of this feature with our own customers, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback, which has helped ensure the best experience and ease of use.

The visuals were so realistic that the element wasn’t placed in a strange place like some other apps. For this reason, I often don’t even try this feature in other apps, but I’m very impressed. I really enjoyed this experience.

Notably, this feature includes haptic feedback that allows customers to feel vibrations as they move 3D models around their home and prevents them from dragging items outside of their room. This adds a compelling level of realism to the experience. Unlike other AR tools, we’ve included several key accessibility features to help customers with disabilities use these new features. For example, clients with limited mobility can place an item in a room and move it using gesture controls. For blind or visually impaired customers, voice instructions and descriptions are provided.

AR is also opening up new opportunities in our stores by helping our employees get products to the shelves. fast. Now Walmart Global Tech is developing a new in-store AR feature that changes the way you view key product information. You will never look at a store shelf the same way again! The concept, which our technologists are developing with Walmart designers, will allow customers and employees to simply point their mobile device camera at our store shelves through the Walmart app to filter our inventory based on your personal preferences.

Imagine that you are a gluten-free client. Using the in-store AR tool, you can use your phone to quickly read food ingredients and easily identify gluten-free products. Coupons are another use case in the future. For example, customers will also be able to scan store shelves to see which items are on sale, on sale, or part of a rewards program. Imagine the possibilities! Maybe you could scan to see what items are on sale or get instant coupons.

All of these augmented reality features help us deliver a fast, compelling and personalized experience, eliminating the need for customers to make purchases, and highlight our commitment to using technology to save customers time and money. To test View in Your Space, download our app and start visualizing. We can’t wait to find out what you think.
