PEPPER PIKE, Ohio:

Personal Wealth, Domestic Violence, Undermining Public Service: Shaker Boulevard

The home health worker initially reported around 8 p.m. June 14 that he had heard his patient’s adult son, aged 80, threaten to kill her. Police checked the mother, who said she had never been threatened. As a result, no action was taken at the time, although the allegations were documented.

The next day at 4:00 pm, the same household health worker reported that he heard a mother and son arguing in another room, followed by a sound like someone falling to the floor. There he found his mother, who was later diagnosed with a hip fracture.

The 55-year-old son, who lives in New York, was charged with domestic violence and issued a protection order against him, although police said the mother was not fully cooperating with the investigation.

The additional public service charge relates to the additional allegation that the son initially tried to prevent the guardian from calling 9-1-1.
