A year before they broke up, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his ex-wife Nicole Shanahan quietly purchased a $13.5 million Malibu estate.
The deal took place on September 17, 2020, six months after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and according to court documents, they parted ways on December 15, 2021. Brin officially filed for divorce a few weeks later, in January of this year. citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Until now, the identity of the buyer has remained a mystery. But according to Dirtthe five-bedroom, seven-bath mansion was purchased through a secret LLC company run by a San Francisco lawyer well known for his highly selective client list.
Singer Pink previously owned the house in 2010. It was her primary residence until she sold it to French investment banker Mathieu Pigasse in 2016 for $11.9 million.
While in Point Dume, Brin joined a long list of tech moguls invading the zip code 90265. Marc Andriessen, WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum, and Lauren Powell Jobs are just a few of those who have purchased property in the area.
It’s unclear at this point who will retain the roughly 6,300-square-foot structure amid their ongoing divorce. The Post has reached out for comment.
The divorce papers do not specify what assets Brin and Shanahan jointly own or how they will be divided. Instead, they argue that some of them exist and the details of which “have to be determined.”
“All matters relating to the property rights or obligations of the parties will be resolved by confidential binding arbitration pursuant to a written agreement between the parties,” Santa Clara County court records state.
Originally built in 2005, the previous listing notes that “this is the Riviera living at its best.”
The Asian-themed house inside and out creates an island vibe with features such as tropical landscaping and a Balinese-style pool gazebo. A footpath through the back gate leads to the beach at Zumeriez.
Other features include a two-island chef’s kitchen, a spacious study with a wood-burning fireplace, a gym, an elevated spa, and a vegetable garden.
There is a separate guest house with a working recording studio and an art studio.
Shen Schultz of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller. Farrah Brittany of The Agency represented Brin in the deal.
Meanwhile, Brin also has a home in New York’s West Village and two homes in Silicon Valley. In 2011, he purchased the historic Pine Brook Estate in Atherton, California for $53 million. The 12-acre estate was built in 1911 by the Levy heiress and is said to be the largest amount anyone has ever paid for a home in the area. .

Brin, 48, and Shanahan, 36 got married in 2018 and share with my daughter. Brin also has two children from a previous marriage to Anna Wojcicki, co-founder and CEO of personal genomics company 23andMe.
